Client Interviewing

Gilbert+TobinSemester Two

Client interviewing competitions offer students the chance to develop their inquiry skills and general professional etiquette in a simulated interview environment. Students are presented with a ‘client’ who is seeking advice about a hypothetical problem. Competitors have to work to establish a professional relationship with the client, so that they are able to gain a full understanding of the issue at hand in order to provide the best advice to assist their client.

Although this competition does not require a great deal of preparation time, it still presents challenges to students as it tests their knowledge in many different areas of law and their ability to effectively communicate in order to achieve the best outcome for their client. Although client interviewing is a challenging competition it equips students with a skill that will be invaluable in their future careers as lawyers.
