Semester One
The witness examination competition is a great opportunity for aspiring lawyers to test their knowledge of the rules of evidence law and basic advocacy skills in a trial court setting. Competitors are provided with a factual situation one hour prior to the trial and are given 30 minutes to consult with their own witness. Competitors are then each given the opportunity to question their own witness and to cross examine their opponents’ witness as they attempt to ascertain previously hidden facts that will be favourable to their side of the case.
Participation in the witness examination competition requires a basic knowledge of the laws of evidence, secure knowledge of court etiquette and confidence in the competitors own advocacy skills.
