UNLSA is affiliated with the Australian Law Students' Association (ALSA). ALSA is the peak representative body for law students in Australia. ALSA represents over 40 000 law students nation wide advocating on their behalf to government, the profession and the legal community on interests affecting all law students. In 2010, the ALSA representatives for UNLSA are Jakeob Brown President and Rebecca Silberberg Vice President (Education). Jessica Norgard Fifth Year Option A Representative also holds the position of Education (Public Relations) Officer on the ALSA Committee, and Jakeob Brown holds the position of Vice President (Finance & Marketing) on the ALSA Executive.

The core functions of ALSA are:

·        To advocate the interests and concerns of Australian law students;

·        To gather and disseminate information of interest and concern to Australian law students;

·        To facilitate communication and the exchange of information between law student societies, within Australia and abroad; and

·        To initiate activities of a social, intellectual, and competitive nature among law students at a national level.

alsaconference2010

ALSA is proud to bring you ALSA Conference 2010 in Adelaide and it is shaping up to be the biggest and best conference yet.

The Conference is co-hosted by the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia, and will see over 500 law students converge to attend the biggest social events, most prestigious competitions, and most stimulating educational forums.

Delegates will attend the Opening Gala Dinner, Cocktail Night, Themed Night, and Closing Gala Dinner as well as abattle of the bands, movie nights, quiz nights, wine tours, brewery tours, the Amazing Race Adelaide. We will also have educational forums on pressing legal issues - animal law, global poverty, refugee law and responding to international conflict.

UNLSA will once again be sending our best and brightest (i.e. the winners of our competitions) to compete on a national level at the ALSA Conference.
