ABOUT UNLSA

The University of Newcastle Students’ Association (UNLSA) has promotes the interests of Newcastle Law Students within the University, the legal profession and the wider community. The UNLSA aims to provide law students with the best access to relevant information, educational experiences and peer support.

The UNLSA aims to:

  • Raise awareness of, and involve members in, matters of general concern to the Association;
  • Foster a good relationship between the Association and the legal profession;
  • Organise academic competitions;
  • Provide social activities for members;
  • Foster a good relationship between members and the staff;
  • Promote the Newcastle Law School and the University of Newcastle Legal Centre;
  • Foster a positive culture and spirit of collegiality among members; and
  • Engage in community initiatives

MEMBERSHIP

All students enrolled in a Law Degree at Newcastle University are encouraged to get involved with and take advantage of the UNLSA by becoming a member. Membership is just $5 per academic year.

  • the opportunity to play in our local, interfaculty, and intervarsity sporting teams;
  • an initiation to social justice forums and BBQs;
  • free registration for all of our competitions;
  • access to student support services;

JOINING THE COMMITTEE

If you are a member of the UNLSA and expect to be enrolled as a law student in the year of the upcoming term, you are eligible to nominate for a position. If you are interested in such an opportunity, please read through the UNLSA Constitution and By Laws. The AGM is held in September, along with elections. More details will come closer to the date!

In accordance to the UNLSA By Laws there will be no campaigning, oral or written, by or on behalf of any nominee.
